Why it’s here
Most small businesses don’t need something new. They need the thing that already works in one place to work in another. Reusing what already works is a big part of how I keep small builds small.
What it is
allmahj.com is where American mahjong players see what’s new, show off their tiles and mats, see what others have, and buy, sell and trade. It’s a personal project.
What it does
- Tiles, mats and racks. Each one is its own kind of item, with pages built for it.
- Plain English. Every fact about a tile set, mat or rack comes with a short explanation, so someone who has never played can follow it.
- A rack fit calculator. It checks whether a set’s tiles fit a rack, using the makers’ published measurements.
- A marketplace. Buying, selling and trading, with checkout on the site.
- Members. Profiles, follows, a feed and reviews.
Reused parts
I didn’t build sign-up and the marketplace twice. I pulled both out of the DMB Poster Vault into packages, and allmahj installs them. The second site got payments and accounts that had already been tested elsewhere.
It’s built with Astro and Convex, with Stripe for payments, hosted on Vercel.
